Renewing Our Minds
Renewing Our Minds
The transformation of our minds is essential for aligning with God’s will. Let’s explore the wisdom and spiritual principles behind this process.
- The Mind’s Current State
Our minds have long been influenced by worldly knowledge and sensory experiences. However, they struggle to comprehend spiritual truths.
1 Corinthians 2:14 reminds us that the natural mind cannot grasp the things of God, they appear as foolishness. Sense knowledge dominates our thinking, limiting our understanding.
- Divine Wisdom
There are two types of wisdom:
- Earthly Wisdom: This wisdom lacks purity and often leads to selfishness and deception.
- Godly Wisdom: It is pure, peaceable, gentle, merciful, and impartial. This wisdom comes from above and aligns with God’s character.
When the Holy Spirit enters our lives, He imparts divine wisdom, the Father’s perspective, making the Word of God come alive within us.
- Understanding Spirituality
Spirituality involves our re-created spirit taking charge over our reasoning faculties. It means allowing our spirit to rule our entire being.
In 2 Corinthians 10:3-5, we learn that our spiritual weapons are mighty for tearing down strongholds. We cast down imaginations and align our thoughts with God’s Word.
- The Battle Within
Galatians 5:16-18 describes the ongoing war between our spirit and flesh. When our spirit gains mastery over our senses, it brings them into submission. As a result, our minds are renewed.
- Feeding the Mind
Romans 8:5-11 emphasizes that those who follow the Spirit focus on spiritual matters. Our re-created spirit feeds our minds with revelation knowledge.
Colossians 3:10 speaks of putting on the new man, renewed in knowledge according to God’s image.
- Keys to Mind Renewal
- Priority: The mind isn’t renewed through mere study; it requires living out God’s Word.
- Meditation: Meditate on scripture day and night (Joshua 1:8, Psalm 1:1-4).
- Application: Act on God’s Word.
- Listening to Your Spirit: Obey the inner voice of your spirit.
Remember, true renewal comes from immersing ourselves in God’s Word and allowing it to transform our thinking.
