Because we didn’t choose Him, He chose us
“You are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.” (1 Peter 2:9)
John writes “See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are! But the people who belong to this world don’t recognize that we are God’s children because they don’t know him”. 1 John 3:1 NLT
He is your real Father who has called you his beloved child and because you belong to him, he is continually pouring out his tremendous love upon you. Even though you may not be aware, day by day his love flows to you and through you, no matter the circumstances.
Because His Love Never Changes
Because his love never changes you can know and rely on him, to help you face whatever comes your way every day. You can’t earn it or deserve it. His love is showered upon you because you are his precious child, and his heart is filled with joy that you bring to him.
He declared his words of approval and delight over his Son at his baptism. He declares the same words over you, “You are my beloved child, in you I am well pleased”! As your faith begins to grow and you start to believe at a greater level, trying to work for his approval will stop because you will know you already have his approval.
God’s love for us and his desire to have a personal, loving relationship with us is what motivated him to send Christ into the world to save us. It was sin which had separated us from him, and it was Christ who paid the price for our sins in order to bring us back into a relationship with the Father. This sacrifice not only brings us peace with God. (Romans 5:1-5)
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him”. (John 3:16-17)
Because God Called Us to Himself
Additionally, because God has called us to himself, he promises to protect that relationship (John 10:28) and never leave or forsake us (Hebrews 13:5, 1 Thessalonians 5:23-25)
“He called you to this through our gospel that you might share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.” 2 Thessalonians 2:14
God also shows his love for us by calling us out of the darkness of sin and into the light of fellowship with him.
“When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I AM the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life.” John 7:12.
Because Christ Paid the Price to Redeem us to God.
Because of our sinful nature, we had no power to fulfill God’s law. But God’s love is shown through Christ who redeemed, or paid, the price we owed for our rebellion. (Galatians 3:13)
“God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh, in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.” (Romans 8:3-4)
Because Gods’ love Vindicated us by His grace.
“All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that that came by Christ Jesus, God presented him as a sacrifice of atonement through faith in his blood….” (Romans 3:23-25) NIV
God’s love is shown by vindicated us (or declaring us innocent) by grace through faith in Christ. Christ is treated as if he was the sinner, and the sinner is treated as if he were the righteous one. God now sees us through Christ’s righteousness instead of through our sin.
Because the Spirit of Adoption as Sons Was Given to Us
“For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father”! (Romans 8:15)
God demonstrates his love for us by forgiving us of our sins, and also by bringing us into his family. His adoption has allowed us to share in the inheritance of the saints. (Colossians 1:12) This inheritance also includes sharing everything with Jesus Christ!
Because We Have Been Sanctified (Set Apart)
“We have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.” (Hebrews 10:10)
Another way God shows his love is by setting us apart for His purpose. We’re sanctified when we come to Christ. Christ offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice and has paid for our sins once and for all. So we’re sanctified, or set apart, to obtain salvation through Christ.
We’re also sanctified throughout our Christian lives by grace and not by works (Ephesians 2:8-9) In other words it’s about how we live after we’ve been saved.
It’s the process of dying to sin and living for Christ by becoming more like Him. It’s about producing the fruits of the Spirit as opposed to producing the fruits of the flesh. (Galatians 5:19-23) We are not saved by works but saved to do work.
Because Now We Are God’s Children
“Beloved, now we are God’s children and what we will be, has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is.” (1 John 3:1-2)
Even though we constantly wrestle with sin our whole lives, we’re promised that the good work God begins in us will be completed. (Phillipians 1:6) So our future looks brighter every day because we know when we go to be with the Lord our sinful nature will be left behind and we’ll be like Him, and with Him, forever.
And Finally
If you don’t know Jesus Christ and would like to have all what the above has to offer, now is a good time to ask Jesus to come into your life. No one knows if we will have a tomorrow so why put it off.
Just say this prayer: “Jesus, I believe you are the son of God and that you gave your life to save me. You paid the price for my sins that I deserved to pay. I ask your forgiveness for my sins, and I turn my life over to you. Come into my life right now. I accept you as my savior and Lord. Thank you for saving me.”
Now, if you have said that prayer, you are a child of God right now. For more information on how to live for Christ I recommend this link: Leading the way
