Excuses Don’t Matter: An Inspirational Story

I nearly missed my flight to Abuja.
I had a 6:30 flight back to Abuja but got caught in a traffic backup that made me late. When I got to the airport by 6:10, the attendant told me I could not enter and that the boarding gate was already closed. I just stood there disappointed and confused about what to do next. I met other fellow latecomers there, too.
I went close to the boarding area and said, “Sir, please, I have checked in online already.” The man looked at me and said, “Did you check in online before today???” I said, “Yes sir.” He said, “That is the only reason why only you can get on this plane.” He checked to make sure that it was true, opened the gate, and let me in.
Before I went in, this other lady came and was begging, too. The man asked her, “Did you check in online?” She said, “No.”
The man said something profound: ” This is not a matter of begging, and it’s not because I’m wicked. The check-in portal closes 30 minutes before departure. This is a matter of principle, and so I can’t check you in now.”
As I walked into the plane, the man’s words kept ringing in my ears as the Holy Spirit brought to my remembrance thoughts of the kingdom of Heaven.
There’s a principle that only those who have Jesus as Lord and Savior and live a life pleasing to God here on earth will be allowed in. Your excuses don’t matter, and your flowing tears won’t matter.
If an airline here on earth would have such stringent rules, how much more the God of Heaven who already paid the price so that you can enter Heaven?
And so, I ask you today? Have you checked into the kingdom of God? Who is Lord over your life? Do you live your life for yourself or according to the word of God?? Think deeply! Double-check and make sure you’re checked in!
John 10:9 (NLT): “Yes, I am the gate. Those who come in through me will be saved. They will come and go freely and will find good pastures.”
