Breaking Addictions
Addiction is Demonic Strategies
Addiction is Demonic Strategies against your life and has many forms. The devil pushes addictions on people, tobacco, alcohol, pornography, unhealthy foods, etc. They come on the scene when you let your flesh have its own way. When lust has its victim bound it becomes an addiction. Anything your flesh desires or craves is a lust, it causes pressure and is hard to defeat.
It comes especially when something you crave is denied to you. Your flesh wants its way, but your spirit wants God’s way. Your flesh lusts against your spirit. “For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh. These are in opposition to one another, so that you may not do the things that you please. (Galatians 5:17) MEV.
Even worry is an addiction
Even worry is an addiction; it’s a sin because when you worry you are trying to overcome problems in your own power instead of depending upon the power of God to help. “Cast all your care upon Him, for He cares for you. (1 Peter 5:7) MEV.
Now every addiction, every lust that has you bound God can deliver you from them all. He loves you and wants you free! God will deliver you from every addiction, but you must put your faith in God and trust Him to deliver freedom from your addiction.
Faith begins where the will of God is known. You can’t have faith when you don’t know the will of God. Study God’s Word every day to know His will. “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” (Romans 12:2) MEV.
You can break any addiction, but you can’t do it without God’s Word. The Word will separate you from whatever has you bound as it will strengthen your faith and trust in Him.
Gaining freedom from addiction
You are making a decision to be free from addiction. You need to know it is His will to deliver you from addiction. You know that addiction is a sin, and you need forgiveness for that sin, so here’s a verse that you need to pray over first asking for forgiveness. “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness”. (1 John 1:9)
Then you pray asking God to deliver you from this addiction, spend time praying over this, believing and trusting God that you have been forgiven. God will not promise you something that is against His will.
Speak against the addiction and say, “In Jesus name I am no longer under the bondage of my addiction for I have been forgiven and cleansed by the Lord. I receive my deliverance, my freedom. Thank you, Lord!
Spend time in The Word of faith
The Holy Spirit lives in you so allow Him to lead you. “Likewise, the Spirit helps us in our weaknesses, for we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groaning too deep for words. He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.” (Romans 8:26-27) MEV.
Believe the love of God that He has for you and put your faith in His love because He is love.
Do you want to feel worthy and useful again?
If you have never asked Jesus to come into your life now is the time to make your life right with God and accept Jesus into your life.
Romans 10:9-10 MEV says “That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord”, and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved, for with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation”.
If you are ready to accept Jesus into your life speak the following prayer out loud.
“Dear God, I know I am a sinner. I repent and want to turn from my sins, and I ask for Your forgiveness. I believe that Jesus Christ is Your Son. I believe He died for my sins and that You raised Him to life. I want Him to come into my heart and to take control of my life. I want to trust Jesus as my Savior and follow Him as my Lord from this day forward. In Jesus’ Name amen.”
If you have said this prayer with your heart, you are now an adopted child of God and heir with Jesus Christ and entitled to eternal life with Him. His Holy Spirit has come to live inside you. The Holy Spirit will comfort, guide, lead and convict you of sins so you may ask forgiveness.
