Resisting Temptations
Satan has been defeated
Jesus bore our sins and the curse of the law upon Himself on the cross (put in verse). Satan has been defeated, so, when signs of temptations appear, resist them in the name of Jesus. Satan no longer has power except to mess with your mind by putting thoughts there (Put in verse).
Remember, Satan came to kill, steal, and destroy, and he does it through your mind (Put in Verse). He will plant thoughts in your mind to confuse you and weaken your faith. The working of the Holy Spirit will be blocked causing you to be indecisive.
This weakening of your faith will result in strife, sins, lack of repentance, and disobedience. Confusion comes where there is strife and gives evil an opening to undermine your faith (James 3:16).
Obedience is your responsibility
Obedience is your responsibility, and you are to live according to God’s will. To resist Satan, you must return to repentance and obedience:
- To do that you must submit to God (James 4:7-8).
- Draw near to God and He will draw near to you (put in verse).
- Resist the devil and he will flee from you (put in verse).
- Stop worrying about things, cast all your care onto the Lord (1 Peter 5:6-7).
It’s important to come to the Lord in humility, not pride, pride is a sin.
Once you’ve cast your care upon the Lord, don’t look at those problems anymore. Refuse to entertain those thoughts. Tell them aloud “I rebuke, and cast down those vain thoughts, leave my mind immediately, in the name of Jesus”.
Give authority to God’s written Word
Because we’re responsible for living according to God’s will it’s important to deal with sin and repentance immediately. Ask the Lord to help you recognize strife or other sins, anything that is a hindrance to God’s glory. When you have them identified, repent of them.
The Bible is full of scriptures to make you whole in every area of your life, spiritually, physically and financially. So, when it comes time that you need the Lord to help you, He is always there to lift you up and guide you.
If you want faith to work in your heart, it’s mandatory to be sin free. We are not moved by what we feel or what we see.
- “We walk by faith and not by sight” (2 Corinthians 5:7).
- “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen” (Hebrews 11:1).
- “Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by The Word of God” (Romans 10:17).
