Shattered and Forgotten
Shattered lives
The world over people can be found suffering from shattered lives and facing storms in their lives. No one is immune, it doesn’t matter what their status is, wealthy, educated, male, female, or how old they are. Many can relate to these verses from the Psalms:
- “I am forgotten as though I were dead; I have become like broken pottery.” (Psalms 31:12)
- “I am exhausted and completely crushed. My groans come from an anguished heart.” (Psalms 38:8)
- “Scorn has broken my heart and has left me helpless; I looked for sympathy, but there was none, for comforters, but I found none.” (Psalms 69:20)
Everybody battles their own demons in their own way, often without success. People constantly seek escape in various ways—through drugs, alcohol, work, sex, or attempting to be popular. Though they may be smiling we often don’t know what lurks behind those smiles. Are those eyes reflecting true peace and joy, or are they hiding some form of depression, something they are battling deep inside their hearts?
Most of you know the saying reaching the “end of my rope,” well they don’t see any worth in their reflection. They feel they are at the end of their rope, (I know, I’ve been there as you can see by reading ‘My Story’). They may have been let down by those they love and despise what they’ve become, feeling hopeless, not seeing a way out.
Others can break our hearts, and our own failures can drag us down. So, what can we do? Although you may feel like the biggest failure on earth, unloved, unwanted, unappreciated, and hopeless, there is a God in Heaven who loves you. This one true God can make you whole and bring joy to your life as He did to mine.
The worlds’ view verses Gods view
The world encourages us to think more highly of ourselves than we should, making everything about us. However, God views this self-righteousness as worthless. As Isaiah 64:6 says, “We are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousness’ are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.”
Instead, Romans 12:3 advises, “For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.”
The world also tells us to put ourselves first, but true peace and joy come only when we put God first. As Matthew 6:33 reminds us, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”
Become brokenhearted for the Lord instead
Instead of remaining a shattered vessel, become brokenhearted for the Lord instead. Open your heart before God and call upon His Son, Jesus Christ, to find true meaning in life. Romans 10:9-10 says “That if you shall confess with your mouth (speak out loud) the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved. For with the heart man believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation”. Ask Him for forgiveness and salvation. He will grant you eternal life and a new purpose as a child of God.
The Lord cares about you
- “The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” (Psalms 34:18)
- “The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.” (Psalms 51:17)
- “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” (Psalms 147:3)
- “He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand.” (Psalms 40:2)
If you seek happiness, peace, and true worth, nothing compares to the fellowship with Him. He transforms even the most shattered lives and fills our lives with genuine joy. Through Him, our spirit is renewed, and we have everything to live for in this life, along with the promise of eternity with Him.
Consider David’s words in these passages from Psalms:
- “Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless His holy name. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget none of His benefits; Who pardons all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases; Who redeems your life from the pit, Who crowns you with loving kindness and compassion; Who satisfies your years with good things, so that your youth is renewed like the eagle. (Psalms 103:1-5)
- As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us. Just as a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear Him. For He Himself knows our frame; He is mindful that we are but dust.” (Psalms 103: 12-14)
Conclusion
Satan came to kill, steal and destroy but Jesus will remove all the schemes of Satan that destroys our lives. In Jesus there is life, while everything we rely on only leads to death. So, don’t leave this page without inviting Jesus into your heart, and He will save you. No child of God is a broken vessel. We are children of the King, valued so much that He sacrificed Himself so we could have eternal life.
If you don’t know Jesus Christ, open your heart before God and call upon Him to find true meaning in life. Romans 10:9-10 says “That if you shall confess with your mouth (speak out loud) the Lord and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved. For with the heart man believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation”. Ask Him for forgiveness and salvation. He will grant you eternal life and a new purpose as a child of God.
Speak out loud the following prayer to receive Jesus Christ into your life
“Dear God, I know I am a sinner. I repent and want to turn from my sins, and I ask for Your forgiveness. I believe that Jesus Christ is Your Son. I believe He died for my sins and that You raised Him to life. I want Him to come into my heart and to take control of my life. I want to trust Jesus as my Savior and follow Him as my Lord from this day forward. In Jesus’ Name amen.”
If you have said this prayer with your heart, you are now an adopted child of God and heir with Jesus Christ and entitled to eternal life with Him. His Holy Spirit has come to live inside you. The Holy Spirit will comfort, guide lead and convict you of sins so you may ask forgiveness.
